Kommo vs Pipedrive for selling on WhatsApp: which suits your small business?

In Mexico, a good share of business happens on WhatsApp. For many small businesses it is not one more channel: it is the channel where prospects arrive, quotes go out and the sale closes. If your business works that way, the question that matters is not "which CRM is better?" in the abstract, but which one fits a business where WhatsApp already is the sale.

Kommo and Pipedrive show up on almost every shortlist of CRMs for LATAM. Both are serious tools and both connect WhatsApp — but in different ways and, in Pipedrive's case, depending on the plan you buy. That difference weighs more than anything else when choosing. This comparison is for you if you run or manage sales at a Mexican small business — real estate, insurance, a clinic, a distributor, an agency — that already receives most of its prospects over WhatsApp and is choosing its first CRM.

The decision point: how WhatsApp reaches your CRM

Before comparing reports or prices, one technical fact that changes everything else: to use WhatsApp with automation, several agents and messaging at scale you need the WhatsApp Business API. Access normally comes through a provider authorized by Meta (a BSP, Business Solution Provider), although Meta's Cloud API also allows a direct connection. The key question for your decision is how built-in that channel is in each CRM — and on which plan.

Kommo: messaging first, WhatsApp built in out of the box

Kommo builds the WhatsApp Business API directly into the CRM, without you having to buy a separate messaging tool. Everything lives inside the same platform: a multi-agent inbox where several reps work from a single number, the conversation history attached to the deal card, message templates managed from the CRM itself, and a no-code chatbot builder (Salesbot) for qualifying leads 24/7. Other messaging channels arrive in the same inbox.

For the small business owner asking "does it work with WhatsApp?", Kommo's answer is "yes, it comes built in from the entry plan." One provider, one invoice, one tool to learn.

Pipedrive: native WhatsApp on higher plans, an external app on the rest

Pipedrive does have native WhatsApp: a Sales Inbox built on the official WhatsApp Business API, which receives messages by webhook from Meta and lets you reply inside the same thread. It is important to say this precisely, because for a long time the short answer was "Pipedrive does not have WhatsApp" and that is no longer true.

Now the fine print, which does matter for your decision: that feature is limited by plan — the support documentation places it from the Growth plan upward — it does not appear on the public pricing page, and its general availability across all accounts is not confirmed. In practice, if you buy the entry plan, the common route is still installing a messaging app from Pipedrive's Marketplace. Several are documented — TimelinesAI, Rasayel, Callbell, Wati, Leadsales (a Mexican BSP, in Spanish), 360dialog or Twilio for technical teams — each with its own setup and cost, on top of the license.

Put another way: with Pipedrive, if you want native WhatsApp, the plan to look at is not the cheapest one. And if you stay on the entry plan, you have two providers and usually two invoices.

Comparison by criterion

Criterion Kommo Pipedrive
WhatsApp built in Yes, from the entry plan Native, but limited to higher plans; on lower plans you use a Marketplace app
Product focus Messaging: it is the starting point Sales pipeline and reporting
Spanish interface Spanish as a primary language Available
Visual pipeline management Present It is the axis of the product
Reporting and forecasting More basic Deeper, with forecasting
Providers to manage One One (high plan) or two (entry plan + app)

The real difference is not in a feature list: it is in where each product puts its weight. Kommo starts from the conversation; Pipedrive starts from the pipeline.

Prices

The license price is only one part of the cost. With the WhatsApp Business API there is always a second, separate cost: what Meta charges for the template messages you initiate, which applies the same with either CRM. It is worth separating them to compare fairly.

Kommo (per user per month, USD — checked at kommo.com/pricing on July 26, 2026):

  • Base — $15
  • Advanced — $25
  • Pro — $45
  • Enterprise — price on request

One detail worth knowing before you budget: Kommo does not offer monthly billing. The minimum subscription is 6 months, and longer terms exist (9 months, 1 and 2 years). The official page does not publish the discount by term, so if that interests you, ask directly.

Kommo offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card, with access to every feature; the only limit during the trial is media storage, capped at 10 GB.

Pipedrive (per user per month, USD — official plan sheets, July 2026). Note: Pipedrive renamed its plans, so if you find comparisons talking about Essential, Advanced, Professional, Power or Enterprise, they are out of date.

Plan Annual Monthly
Lite $14 $19
Growth $24 $34
Premium $59 $64
Ultimate $69 $89

Pipedrive also offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card on all its plans. Unlike Kommo, it does allow monthly billing as well as annual.

Here is the crossover that really matters for a WhatsApp-first business: Pipedrive's native WhatsApp Sales Inbox is documented from Growth upward. If your priority is WhatsApp built in with no extra pieces, that is the plan to compare against Kommo — not the entry one. And if you stay on Lite, add the cost of whichever messaging app you choose.

Meta's cost is separate. Since July 1, 2025 Meta charges per template message, not per conversation: marketing, utility and authentication messages that you initiate are charged. Session messages — when the customer writes to you first and you reply inside the 24-hour window — are free, and today so are utility templates sent inside that window (marketing is always charged). Both exemptions end on October 1, 2026. Rates vary by country and by category. This cost is charged by Meta, not by the CRM, and according to their documentation neither one adds a margin to it, so it applies the same whether you use Kommo or Pipedrive. Rates are updated often: check them on the WhatsApp Business pricing page before running your numbers.

When Kommo makes sense

Kommo is the more natural option when WhatsApp is practically your entire sales process: the customer writes, you reply, you quote and you close inside the same chat, with no complex multi-stage pipeline or teams behind it. Also when you want WhatsApp built in from the entry plan without adding tools, when Spanish as the interface's primary language matters to you, and when advanced reports and revenue forecasting are not your priority today.

When Pipedrive makes sense

Pipedrive makes more sense when the sale does not end in the chat but crosses a pipeline with several stages; when you need revenue forecasting, deeper reporting, granular roles and permissions by team, or integrations with accounting and ERPs. Its integration ecosystem is broader and the visual pipeline is the center of the product, not an add-on.

The WhatsApp nuance: if you go to Growth or above, you have it natively. If you stay on Lite, you add an external app, a second provider and an initial setup before you receive your first message. For a team that already thinks in terms of funnel, reports and forecast, that structure is worth it. For one that just needs to answer chats faster, it is one piece too many.

Before you decide: ask about migration

A practical piece of advice that applies with any CRM: before signing, ask explicitly what can be exported if you ever decide to switch. Contacts, companies and deals usually come out fine via CSV. Conversation history is where it varies most from one platform to another, and it is precisely what accumulates the most value over the years. Ask your provider for it in writing before you commit, not after.

Recommendation for the WhatsApp-first Mexican small business

There is no single winner. There is a right fit for how your business sells today.

  • If your sale lives in the chat from start to finish, Kommo solves it from the entry plan, with one provider and in Spanish from day one. It is the simplest starting point for most WhatsApp-first small businesses in Mexico.
  • If your sale crosses a staged pipeline, and you need forecasting and reporting, Pipedrive gives you that structure. Plan for the Growth plan or above if you also want native WhatsApp with no extra pieces.
  • If you are unsure, start from where your sale happens today. If almost everything goes through chat and you do not have a formal pipeline yet, Kommo reduces moving parts and gets you operating sooner. You can always migrate to something more structured when volume and the need for reporting justify it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the main difference between Kommo and Pipedrive?

Where they put the weight. Kommo starts from the conversation: it is built around the chat and messaging is its starting point. Pipedrive starts from the pipeline: its axis is visual stage management and reporting. It is not that one is better, it is that they serve different ways of selling.

Does Pipedrive have native WhatsApp?

Yes, a WhatsApp inbox built on the official WhatsApp Business API. The nuance matters: its support documentation places it from the Growth plan upward and it does not appear on the public pricing page. On entry plans, the common route is still installing a messaging app from the Marketplace.

How much do Kommo and Pipedrive cost?

Kommo, per user per month: Base 15 USD, Advanced 25 USD and Pro 45 USD, with a six-month minimum subscription and no monthly payment option. Pipedrive, per user per month billed annually: Lite 14, Growth 24, Premium 59 and Ultimate 69 USD; it also allows monthly payment. Prices verified in July 2026.

Does the CRM price include what WhatsApp charges?

No. Meta charges separately for the template messages you initiate, and that cost applies the same with either CRM. Replying inside the 24-hour window the customer opens is free until October 1, 2026, when Meta starts charging for service messages.

Which suits me if my small business sells on WhatsApp?

It depends where your sale happens. If the customer writes, you quote and you close inside the same chat, Kommo reduces pieces and gets you operating faster. If your sale crosses a multi-stage pipeline and you need forecasting and reporting, Pipedrive gives you that structure. We work with both, so we have no incentive to push you toward the one that does not serve you.

License prices verified at each provider's official sources on July 26, 2026. Plans and rates change: confirm them before you buy. Yocoya is a Kommo and Pipedrive partner; we recommend based on the case, not on the commission.
